Watch and you'll see, someday I'll be, Part of Your World.

Sadly, I cannot be a part of the roaring 20s.  However, I guess I will just have to make it up by dressing the part.  So here we go:

1920s

During this time, shorter skirts with pleats and dropped-waists were in, straight-line chemises, and close-fitting cloche hats were extremely popular.  Give it a modern twist with a bright color.  Don't forget some t-strap flats.

These cocktail dresses show the trend of shorter dress.  Drop-waists, fringe, and beading became all the rage.  So why not kick-up your heels in these fabulous "flapper" outfits.

Oh yes, the past can hurt. But from the way I see it, you can either run from it, or...learn from it.

Good life motto.  And what better way to learn from the past than from the fashion that inspired us.
So I am going decade by decade to bring you fashion INSPIRED by the past.

1910s

As World War I struck, women's fashion became more industrial and with the feminist movement skirts were no longer the only option for women.  As hemlines rose and women considered the option of trousers, style changed.  Mix it up with a button up and high-waisted shorts.  Give it a touch of feminism with tights and "Mary-Jane" flats.  Don't forget some industrial jewelry to pay homage to the first World War.

When it came to a night out, opulence was key.  Whether it was the allure of the oriental, the use of matching jackets, and costume-peices (brought about by THE CoCo Chanel) to give the allusion of wealth, the 1910s was a stylish era.  Whether a beautiful navy cocktail gown with a matching jacket or an opulent oriental-inspired dress, both look divine with an over the top t-stap heel.

Marilyn Monroe:

"Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world."

Audrey Hepburn:

"For Beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."

Sophia Loren:

"A woman's dress should be like a barbed-wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing
the view."

Grace Kelly:

"I am basically a feminist.  I think that women can do anything they decide to do."

Jessica Rabbit:

*Yes, she is not a real old hollywood celebrity but she still has an interesting style*

"I'm not bad.  I'm just drawn that way."

I'm a big tough girl. I tie my own sandals and everything!

But looking down at my feet in those sandals after a long winter is just a nightmare.  So in a mad dash to paint my toes I found the top nail polishes & lacquers according to Harper's Bazaar.com .  Product/Color are printed next to item.
Enjoy!

I am a damsel, I am in distress, I can handle this!

So....I decided to start a blog.  For some reason I thought this was a fantastic idea.  Hopefully, I can post about my inner musings, fashions, and things that inspire me.  I mean this is, "Allison's Wonderland."
But like the title says, "I am a damsel, I am in distress, I can handle this!"
